Suitable for dentists, dental nurses, practice managers, reception and facilities staff, and others who handle or oversee waste in dental practices.
Course content
Dental waste streams
Review common dental waste, including amalgam, sharps, contaminated materials, pharmaceuticals, disinfectants and other chemicals. The course also covers general waste and X-ray-related waste where it is produced.
Segregation and storage
Explore how waste streams should be separated and placed in suitable containers, with attention to safe storage before collection.
Documentation and collection
Understand the documentation that supports waste transfer and consider what to check in collection arrangements and contractor requirements.
ADR awareness
Get an introduction to the transport requirements that may apply to some dental waste streams, including why the waste classification and packaging need to be considered.
What participants will gain
By the end of the course, participants should be better equipped to recognise common dental waste streams, follow the practice’s segregation and storage procedures, and understand what to check when waste is transferred to a contractor.
The course uses dental practice examples and should be aligned with your local procedures and waste arrangements.
