Suitable for nurses, healthcare assistants, doctors, dentists, practice and laboratory staff, cleaners, porters, facilities personnel and new starters.
What the course covers

Participants explore how to distinguish infectious and offensive waste, and how to manage sharps, medicines, cytotoxic and cytostatic waste, anatomical waste, general waste and recyclable materials.
It also covers colour-coded containers, safe storage, personal safety, spillages, basic waste documentation and the role of the waste contractor.
By the end of the course, participants should be better able to
The course uses practical examples to help participants apply the learning to their own workplace. Waste classifications and colour coding can depend on the type of waste and local arrangements, so training should be aligned with your organisation’s procedures.
