ID8000 Consumer Commodities by Air
Practical training for businesses shipping eligible retail products by air
Products such as perfumes, cosmetics and certain healthcare items may be eligible for shipment by air as ID8000 Consumer Commodities. Eligibility depends on the product and how the shipment is prepared. Our course gives staff responsible for preparing these consignments the knowledge and practical skills to apply the requirements of Packing Instruction Y963.
Duration: One day
Delivery: Live online or at your premises
Price: £295 + VAT per delegate for open courses; private courses by
quotation
Suitable for: Shippers, packers, fulfilment teams and staff responsible
for preparing ID8000 consignments
What you will learn
The course follows a shipment from the first product check through to carrier handover. You will learn how to assess whether a product may be shipped as ID8000, identify when another dangerous-goods classification is needed, and use the current air regulations to check the applicable requirements.
You will then work through packaging, quantity limits, package marks and labels, and the information needed on shipping documents. The course also covers carrier acceptance and route checks, which are essential before offering a consignment for transport.
A course built around real shipping decisions
Practical exercises use examples such as fragrances, aerosols and healthcare products. You will review product information, decide whether ID8000 is appropriate, check a sample package and prepare the associated paperwork. The course ends with an assessment of the tasks relevant to preparing ID8000 shipments.
For private courses, we can tailor examples to your product range and shipping process.
Who should attend?
This course is designed for people who classify, pack, mark, label or document eligible consumer commodities for air transport. It is particularly useful for fragrance and cosmetics businesses, healthcare suppliers, e-commerce fulfilment operations and contract packers.
If your role involves preparing a wider range of dangerous goods for air transport, please ask us about our full dangerous-goods-by-air training.
