Operator Licence Awareness Training (OLAT)
An OLAT course is an ideal way for transport professionals to keep their knowledge up-to-date and ensure their transport operations are conducted safely, and legally.
An Operator Licence Awareness Training (OLAT), is intended to provide a comprehensive overview of the operator licensing systems and the legal obligations that apply to transport operators, the responsibilities of the transport manager, and how to maintain a ‘green’ Operator Licence Risk Score (OCRS).
An OLAT course is often a requirement handed down by the Traffic Commissioner to business owners if they feel your business would benefit from a knowledge update. It is also ideal for those who wish to keep an existing Transport Manager CPC qualification up-to-date or looking for Continued Professional Development. It is also an ideal foundation course for trainees who are looking to gain the Transport Manager CPC qualification.
The course is usually conducted over one eight-hour day (the Traffic Commissioner may sometimes specify a two-day course), and usually covers such subjects as:
- Operator Licensing
- Drivers Hours and the Working Time Directive
- Drivers' Record Keeping
- Planned Preventative Maintenance, walk-round checks and record keeping
- Driver Licensing
- Maintaining the OCRS
If the Traffic Commissioner has indicated that a certain subject should be covered we will obviously ensure it is fully incorporated, and shown on the course attendance certificate.
